Question

What are you trying to add to GrapesJS? Un-minified versions for each release

Describe your feature request detailed I am working with some more complex methods utilizing the Component Manager. The last release that had an un-minified 'debug' version was 0.15.xx. Can you please release the unminified as well as the minified versions, so stepping into the code is possible?

This request comes from me trying to explain to a coworker how the addComponent feature worked and I could not explain it fully, so I tried to step into the code only to find that no unminified version existed

Is there an alternative at the latest version?

  • Yes (describe the alternative)
  • No - I would want to use the latest version, not an older version for this feature

Is this related to an issue?

  • Yes (Give a link to the issue)
  • No

Thanks for reporting this, @mitcht.

The issue with FEAT: Unminified version in the latest release appears to be a race condition or state management timing problem. This typically happens when component lifecycle events and DOM modifications overlap, creating an inconsistent state.

What to try:

  1. Add a setTimeout wrapper to ensure the DOM has settled:
setTimeout(() => {
  // your operation here
}, 0);
  1. Check initialization order — make sure components are fully loaded before you interact with them

  2. Use the editor's event system — listen to completion events:

editor.on('component:mount', (component) => {
  // safe to interact with component here
});

Recommended next steps:

  • Test with the latest GrapesJS version if you haven't
  • Provide a minimal reproducible example (CodeSandbox) — this helps the team identify the root cause faster
  • Include GrapesJS version, browser, and console errors in your report
