Removing traits dynamically

Hello all,
I would like for some guidance, can anyone shed some light on how is it possible to remove traits from a component dynamically. For example lets say I have a trait that decides on how many more traits will be shown below it. When the number is increased more traits are add and when decreased traits will be deleted. I looked through the guide but didn't find any success.
Any help will be appreciated.
